A couple of weeks following the Jackson Hole Community Band’s final concert, we traveled to SLC for Norm’a check-up at Huntsman. Norma is doing well and feels great with lots of energy!! Checkout the photos below. It was the 4th week of the clinical trial and the end of the weekly trips to SLC----YIPPEE!!! Not only were the check-up results good, the next news was that arrangements had been made to do the blood draws in Jackson----no more 1 day trips to SLC, a very big YIPPEE!! The next check-up will be this following week.
For a well earned holiday, we took Kamryn, our 11 year old granddaughter, to Erie, PA, so she could see where Norma grew up. We stayed at Pinehurst, a family vacation home on Lake Erie (well it’s not on the beach front but about 500 yard to the lake).
Pinehurst
We spent about a week there with Norma’s daughter Lola, sisters and other relatives and friends. We went to Erie’s amusement park, which has been there since Norma’s childhood and rode the original roller coaster and many other rides. Of course, we spent lots of time swimming in the lake, which included bonfires, hot dogs and marshmallow roasts on the beach. One of the highlights of Kamryn’s week was driving Glenn’s mini-bike.
Kamryn
Norma showed Kamryn many of the important places from her childhood. We also visited with a couple Norma’s high school classmates in a sort of mini class reunion.

We’re now back in Jackson and as busy as ever with all the normal activities, including volunteering at the National Museum of Wildlife Art. Norma helps hang the art and is currently hanging art for the Western Visions Fundraiser. This week the annual Volunteer Dinner was held, and Norma received recognition for her assistance in hanging the artworks for so many years. It was a tool belt with her own tools installed. Ron, her so called “slave driver” is thinking she will be more efficient.(haha!) The recognition means much to Norma due to the fantastic support and encouragement she receives from the volunteers, staff and trustees.

As a final note, Royal is doing well and has elected “Watch and Wait” after consulting with a surgeon at Huntsman. Another biopsy will be done at Huntsman in about 6 months, then we will revisit the treatemt decision.
Norma and I want to thank everyone for their prayers, good thoughts, cards and e-mails. We are sure they are working because Norma is doing so well. Our many thanks!

Wow! What a great report! Thanks so much, as always, Royal, for the details. Sounds like the treatment is working well and I'm delighted you're back to normal activities and energy level, Norma. Sounds like a good decision on your treatment, too, Royal. How nice to get back to Erie. We wish you a fine "rest of the summer" and a fall with time to spend on all of the good things that make your lives happy. We'll look forward to the next update.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ruthie and Joe
Norma,
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled with all this news and especially glad you got to go to Erie and take Kamron. Summer flew by, didn't it? Very much looking forward to seeing you soon.
Love,
Joyce
Hi Guys,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that your clinical trial is going well and that you are feeling well. Gib sent me an email about your visit to Erie and your mini reunion. Aug 22 the Erie gang got together at Gib's for a planning meeting (right, I'm sure they had a good time!) to map out the activities for our 55th reunion next year. As far as I know, Erika and I are going and we hope to see you there as well. Where exactly is Pinehurst? Looks great; looks like your granddaughter enjoyed it too. Best wishes and keep on keepin' on!
